Macro IMAGES Gallery

“If your pictures aren’t good enough, you’re not close enough.” – Robert Capa (renowned Hungarian-American war photographer and photojournalist)

Macro photography, also known as close up photography, is the art of making small things look big, or macro. In technical terms, macro images reproduce the subject at a magnification ratio of at least 1:1, where the image in the camera sensor is the same size or bigger than the real-life thing.

Macro photography has the ability and potential to reveal whole new worlds and dimensions within a humble image and is a technique that increasingly appeals to me in what it can reveal, almost to the point where you feel that you could just love to climb into that image and explore the world before and around you…as demonstrated in the images in my gallery and described by Galen Rowell (American wilderness photographer, adventure photojournalist and mountaineer)

“I began to realize that the camera sees the world differently than the human eye and that sometimes those differences can make a photograph more powerful than what you actually observed.”
